The sun is shining, the skies are blue and it’s Christmas! No better place that I’d rather be at this time of year than Marbella’s Old Town.
There are a few moments in life that are truly memorable. It might be the day you held your first driver’s license, a crazy party to celebrate your 21st birthday, your very first kiss or the birth of a child. For me, the first flight lesson was an experience that will be cemented within my memory for a lifetime.
For many reasons, I had dismissed my dream as unattainable until that day. As a result, I knew literally nothing about flying. Throttle, mixture, yoke, attitude indicator? I had never heard of even the most basic components of the cockpit.

There are several things you can do to help make your very first flight lesson a happy memory. While there is a lot to learn when it comes to getting a pilot’s certificate, your first lesson should be mostly about having fun. There is plenty of time for learning.
One of my favourite planes to learn in:
With the first rains of September and the drawing to a close of a happily busy summer in Marbella it’s time for some well earned R & R.
To that end and after somewhat of a hiatus, l’ve decided to continue with my Pilot training.
The feeling of being up in the sky was always wonderful however now with the madness in the world it’s even more enjoyable and I couldn’t be more excited to get flying again.
Keep an eye out for some beautiful bird’s eye views of Malaga and Marbella coming soon 🙂

A deadly blaze which claimed the life of one tourist and required 10 others to be admitted to hospital occurred at the well known Sisu Boutique Hotel, near to Puerto Banus in Marbella.
The fire started in the early hours of the morning and thanks to the rapid response of firefighters the fire was extinguished without spreading to adjoining buildings, which had to be evacuated.
Despite the rapid reactions of the emergency services, guests were seen climbing down the outside of the building to escape the flames.
The hotel, famous for it’s pool parties and celebrity guests had only been reopened for several weeks. The cause of the fire is not yet known and is under investigation.
Santa Clara Golf is located in the heart of East Marbella. This paradise, surrounded by 3 golf courses, the best beaches of the Costa del Sol, the most prestigious beach clubs and the best hotels in Marbella, has established itself as the perfect residence for those seeking both the authentic and Mediterranean Marbella.
As Marbella and the Spanish tourism industry welcome the return of European tourists (albeit sadly missing the British tourists – https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-53562603), it’s obvious this will be a summer like no other.
There already is a “PlayasApp” which will inform beach-goers of the current capacity for the various beaches in real time, preventing users from turning up at a beach only to find it full.
Marbella and Estepona also have introduced new drones for the lifeguards, in Marbella the drones are aimed more at keeping an eye on the numbers on the beach and in Estepona the drone will be capable of dropping a flotation device to a swimmer in trouble much quicker than a lifeguard can arrive.
Marbella’s paseo maritimo will also look different, whilst the glamorous will still be out, the glamour maybe overshadowed by everyone wearing face masks.
For those staying in hotels, the much loved buffet breakfasts and dinners are now also a thing of the past with clients having to request staff for their orders rather than self-service.
That been said though, you can still enjoy 320 day of sunshine and you can still enjoy a cocktail on the beach or by the pool and make the most of the new normality in Marbella.

One of Marbella’s nicest resorts, and site of the original Hilton hotel way back in the 70’s.
The area, “Elviria” is known for being home to some of the best beaches in Marbella, as well as top restaurants and beach bars.
Ronda is 60km away from Marbella and is very popular amongst day-trippers from the Costa del Sol
Proud to know and work in Marbella and even more so in Spain, especially on their national day.
